People were created to be loved, Things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.

I own a camera and lenses, a laptop and many other things that, by comparison to many, make me wealthy. I’ve grown attached to many of the items in my life and truth be told I spend more time with them than I do with some of my friends.¬†At the same time, today the word love has been weakened down and used to mean “like” or “enjoy”. Part of this weakness is that love is a single word that tries to cover a multitude of feelings. The Greeks understood this; they had four words for love that covered unconditional love, passionate love, brotherly/sisterly love and affectionate love (love of children by parents).

Any type of love opens us up to the risk that we will get hurt. For this reason it’s easier to turn to things and love them instead of people but if there’s one thing I know about life it’s that if you risk nothing you gain just that.

  1. Mate, awesome words. Where did you get this? Its so true. Thanks for sharing mate and I look forward to seeing this site develop and share some of the amazing (and tragic) things you have experienced, particularly in mission work.

I wish I could remember where I got it from. It’s one of the many images I’ve seen and saved, but that I can’t remember the author of it and I can’t find the original online.

I will be putting some missions photos and stories up, don’t worry. I have about 4000 shots from my time away.

  2. Ben – you have a truly amazing ability to write, this is awesome, very talented, can’t wait to see more!! Thank you

    • Thanks Clint – I think the pictures are a good muse for me to write. They get me thinking and now I have somewhere to put my thoughts.
